TWWH newThe Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Mining, Jamaica will be hosting the 11th Meeting of the Tephritid Workers of the Western Hemisphere (TWWH) in the City of Montego Bay from June 3rd – 7th 2024.

This marks the first time that a TWWH event will be held in the Caribbean, a region of considerable strategic importance in the Western Hemisphere. The presence of fruit fly pests in the Caribbean significantly hampers fruit and vegetable production and exports. Due to the transboundary nature of these pests and the growing threat of non-native invasive species, it is strategically beneficial to enhance the integration and involvement of Caribbean Community countries in the Fruit Fly Working Group of the Western Hemisphere.
