The FAO just released its April 2022 Issue #7 newsletter that features the CPM (Commission on Phytosanitary Measures). The CPM-16 agenda presented by Lucien Kuamé Konan of Côte d’Ivoire, the CPM chairperson, was adopted. The IPPC objectives are implemented by the CPM which is the IPPC governing body that promotes relevant stakeholders and promotes cooperation among its 184 contracting parties in an annual meeting each year.

The opening session was attended by 332, ten from observing Regional Plant Protection Organizations, 102 from IPPC contracting parties, the World Trade Organizations, the World Customs Organization, the Standards and Trade Development Facility, and the Convention on Biological Diversity, among others.

This newsletter also covers topics on the CPM-16 such as adopting nine new plant health standards to enhance worldwide plant health, a POARS Steering Group to fight pest outbreaks, five new phytosanitary treatments, and the transition of implementation review and support system of the IPPC observatory and more.
